Make Your Items Pop in a Refrigerated Display Unit

When customers visit your supermarket to pick up a few things, whether or not you can move more items off the shelves, especially new items, depends on how well you are able to grab the attention of customers through the setup of your displays.

This is especially true with food items that must be refrigerated, since the need to store these items within refrigerated units can limit your display options. There are several techniques that can really make your refrigerated products pop out.

Placement

Place the items the most lucrative items at eye-level. This will increase the likelihood that they will be seen. Display several similar items close together so that they are easier to notice. Make sure that these items are restocked frequently. The most expensive items are most often placed on the top shelves. The items that are the least likely to sell or that are the most generic are usually placed near the bottom. If there is a product you want to promote, place it to the right of a recognized brand.

The common items that customers will purchase should be distributed throughout the store in such a way that guides customers past the items that will generate a greater profit for the store. The most consumable products should be placed at the back of the store.

Given that customers almost always turn right when they first enter, the area that is to the right of the entrance is where the highest margin, most consumable items should be placed.

Organization

Merchandise that is meant to go together should always be kept together. Otherwise, the marketing effect of the merchandise will be diluted. For example, sundae syrups should be displayed next to the ice cream.

Also, if these items offer variety, customers are more likely to purchase more than one to have more options.

Rotation

The displays need to be changed frequently and smoothly to keep customers guessing. Customers need to be kept in the habit of looking around to find what they want. If the same items are kept in the same locations for a long time, customers will simply reach for the same items. When customers have to scan, they will notice and purchase products they would otherwise not notice. Also, adding products keeps customers from becoming bored.

Colors

Any given display should use at least three colors. If you only use one or two colors, the display can begin to look too monochromatic, which will not draw the attention of customers. Use colors that will contrast with each other. Red, white and black are colors that are the most likely to attract attention.

Utility

The great thing about refrigerated displays is that they are more customer-friendly. Some displays are sometimes set up in such a way that the display may actually make it more difficult for customers to grab a product. However, when refrigerated displays are inherently easy to use. Just make sure that, if a door must be opened, it is not too heavy and it is not too difficult to identify the door handle.

Lighting

Lighting is essential for any display. Fortunately, refrigerated display units already come with lighting built in. Many units come with motion-activated lights to save energy. These lights will make the displays look more beautiful and will also make it easier to identify the items contained within.
