World Refrigeration Day is June 26

This is a subtitle for your new post

World Refrigeration Day is an international awareness campaign established by the World Refrigeration Day Secretariat to raise the profile of the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump sector and focuses attention on the significant role that the industry and its technology play in modern life and society. It draws attention to wonderful engineering and science that is all around us every day. Refrigeration is at the very heart of modern life. It enables people to live, travel and work comfortably. It saves lives. It enables people to achieve.

For example, surgeons operate in air-conditioned hospitals. Chilled vaccines are delivered safely to millions in need. Low-carbon heating solutions (heat-pumps) keep people warm. Food is delivered in hygienically safe conditions. Humans travelled to the moon in a temperature-controlled rocket. We play sports on artificially made ice and snow. Artists perform in air-conditioned theatres.

World Refrigeration Day was the idea of refrigeration consultant Stephen Gill, former president of the Institute of Refrigeration in the UK. The inaugural World Refrigeration Day on June 26 2019 was an immediate monumental success when more that 800 physical events took place in at least 153 countries around the world. In 2020, the theme for World Refrigeration Day –  #ColdChain4Life – celebrated the importance of the refrigerated cold chain
in sustaining life. The cold chain links producers and growers across the world to the domestic refrigerator in our kitchens, and it is essential for so much more than food. Vaccines must remain chilled until they are used by medical professionals around the world, and the cold chain is essential for blood transfusions and organ donor transport and storage. The WRD 21 campaign focused on careers in the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pumps industry and is titled “Cooling Champions: Cool Careers for a Better World”. The goal was to inspire students and young professionals – for both men and women – in all countries, encouraging them to meet the challenges faced in their communities.

This year WRD 2022’s them is “Cooling Matters”. The objective is to make the public aware of cooling’s essential benefits, how cooling impacts daily life, and how technology choices foster environmental well-being of future generations. World Refrigeration Day is celebrated on and around June 26. According to the World Refrigeration Day secretariat, despite policies, standards and codes related to the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, there is still significant lack of public understanding of cooling’s importance even though issues like refrigerant transition, emissions reduction, and maximizing energy efficiency have been addressed for decades by governments due to global policies and binding international frameworks.

Cooling Matters will tell the story of how our wellbeing depends upon cooling and how cooling technology choices can safeguard the well-being of future generations. We encourage the whole the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry to join us in celebrating World Refrigeration Day 2022. Join the global community conversation using the hashtags #coolingmatters and WREFD22.”
